Arjun and his younger sister attended the prestigious Kodaikanal International School located in the Palani Hills,Tamil Nadu, where his mother was a teacher. One of his cousins, Kim Sharma, is an actress and appeared with him in the film Yakeen. Modelling career Arjun Rampal was discovered in a Mumbai discotheque by designer, Rohit Bal. He was a student of prestigious Hindu College, Delhi then. Arjun became Rohit's protégé and promoted him to the extent that he became one of India's most sought after male supermodels. Rajiv Rai cast Arjun in a music video 'Do not Marry' with model Namrata Baruah and launched him in 'Pyaar, Ishq Aur Mohabbat' with Kirti Reddy, Suniel Shetty and Aftab Shivdasani. The film did not fare well but Arjun bagged many acting offers, which got his career going. Film career His debut movie - Moksha was released in 2001 and was directed by Ashok Mehta. However, this film was released after his second film, Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat, in which he appeared with Sunil Shetty and Aftab Shivdasani. Although both films did not perform at the box office his performances in both films was lauded by critics. In 2002, he won the Award of the International Indian Film Academy for Face of the Year. Since his debut, he has worked steadily in films such as Aankhen (2002), Dil Hai Tumhaara (2002), Yakeen (2005) and Ek Ajnabee (2005). He has also appeared in the Temptations 2004 concert with stars Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, and Priyanka Chopra. In 2006 he made a guest appearance in the multi-starrer Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and played a supporting role in Don - The Chase Begins Again which is a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don. Rampal donned the role of Jasjit who was played by the veteran actor Pran in the original movie. He then decided to produce as well as act in the film I See You (2006) which released on December 29, 2006. It was a remake of the Hollywood film Just Like Heaven. Arjun produced it with his own production company Chasing Ganesha Films. His wife, Mehr Jesia, was the co-producer. The film starred Arjun Rampal, Vipasha Agarwal, Sonali Kulkarni and Boman Irani. Bollywood Superstars Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan did a cameo in the film. I See You was shot entirely in London. The film received poor reviews and was a failure at the box office. Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om where he played a negative role, receiving many praises for his acting.Arjun recently starred in Rock on !! in which his role as the lead guitarist of the band has been widely acclaimed getting him nominations and awards in the Supporting Actor category including the prestigious Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.An English language film titled The Last Lear which is his latest release has been a hit at the box office.[1] The performance of Arjun was however commendable.
