Herry potar profile

Harry Potter
With the appearance of any young school boy and with some of the same interests this thin, scruffy haired boy with the large round glasses was destined for a life far from normalcy.Harry James Potter was born on July 31st 1980, the same year that saw the murder of John Lennon the only child of James Potter and Lily Evans. Sadly, by the time Harry was fifteen months old he was orphaned when his parents were by killed by the evil Lord Voldemort at Godric’s Hollow. Although fighting desperately for her own life Lily managed to save the life of her son Harry and in doing so her sacrificial love bestowed upon him some magical powers that would help him resist further attacks by Lord Voldemort.
After the premature deaths of his parents, Harry went to live with his mother’s sister, Petunia and her husband, Vernon Dursley in four Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey, a small town just outside London, England, the home of Queen Elizabeth II The couple already had one son, Dudley, who was born just one month before Harry and who was an intensely spoilt brat.It had not been from choice that Petunia and Vernon had become the foster parents of Harry and this was always evident in the way they treated the boy in comparison to their own son, Dudley. Harry was treated with disdain and at times with cruelty. But worse than that, the couple kept the secret from him about his parent’s death. Harry was lead to believe that his parents had been killed in a car crash and in concealing the truth of their death Petunia and Vernon omitted to reveal to Harry any knowledge of his magical powers.
When Harry, who shares his name with Prince Harry reached the age of eleven he began to receive mail which once again his uncle concealed from him. His uncle was aware that the letters were from the Magic World.
As more letters arrived his uncle moved the family to another address but the to avoid them falling into Harry’s hand, but the letters followed them wherever they went. In the first hour of his eleventh birthday, Harry was sat at home a hundreds of letters began flying through the letter box. HIs aunt and uncle then moved him to an island where a mysterious man, Hagrid, appeared and delivered a letter that Harry should have read a week ago. The letter invited him to enroll at a magic school, much to his Uncle Vernon's displeasure. His aunt and uncle had already enrolled Harry at Stonewall High School, a local public school so when Harry went off to Hogwarts they told people that Harry’s disappearance was due to him attending St. Brutus’s Secure Centre for Incurably Criminal Boys.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was located in a castle in the middle of a ring of mountains in Scotland, the birth country of Sean Connery, and was usually reached by taking the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross station, London.
While at Hogwarts, Potter became a student wizard of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he belonged to the house of Gryffindor. While attending Hogwarts Harry involved himself in playing the sport of quidditch and continued to battle with the villain who had murdered his parents, Lord Voldemort.
Harry’s years at Hogwarts saw him making some of the best friends of his life. His closest friends were Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. He had a constant rivalry with and dislike for Draco Malfoy.
Growing up at Hogwarts saw Harry growing from a thin child with brilliant green eyes, which he inherited from his mother, and black messy hair, a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead and large round glasses held together with tape, into a well accomplished wizard. Harry’s wand, which was the ‘brother’ of Lord Voldemort’s, consisted of Holly and Phoenix feathers from Dumbledore’s phoenix. Along with his wand Harry also had an invisible cloak, Marauder’s Map, a pocket sneakoscope and a two way mirror.
The school friends of Harry at Hogwarts were also in training to become wizards and to qualify for a place at Hogwarts the student's qualifications were that they had to be ‘magical people’, wizards and witches, not normal, unmagical ones, referred to as the 'muggles'. A wizard or witch can be born from two magical parents, two muggles, or a mixture thereof, a half-blood. A derogatory name for those witches and wizards born of Muggle parentage is Mudbloods. This is an insult used only by purebloods who feel that Half-blood and Muggle-born witches and wizards are somehow inferior to purebloods.
Hogwarts offered Harry and his friends the chance to call upon their gifts and natural abilities and to learn to control them in the pursuit of good. Harry and his friends "cast spells" and uttered incantations and made potions.
Harry left Hogwarts school at the age of seventeen, in 1998, the year that saw the death of Frank Sinatra and the release of ‘Sex and the City’ starring Kim Cattrailand Sarah Jessica Parker
Harry's character has been portrayed in five movies starring British actor Daniel Radcliffe following the success of the series of books written about his school days, once again, by British author J K Rowling

Maria Wasti is a Pakistani film and television actress. Most of her roles in television serials portray her as a Pakistani woman going through difficult times and have landed her great respect in the eyes of critics and fans alike.
Biography
Early years
Wasti was born on 14 August, in dar es salam Tanzania, Africa In her early days, Wasti's parents wanted their daughter to become a doctor.. In the day, the only television network active in the country was the government-owned Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). It would be later in the 1980s that Network Television Marketing (NTM), the country's first privately owned channel, showcased content specifically targeted to the younger generation and Wasti got interested in acting.

First teleplay
In mid-1990s, she was approached by Bakhtiar Ahmed, the programme manager PTV Lahore Centre to be cast in a play called Sarah Aur Ammara alongside Resham, a film actress. highlighted a story around two sisters going through the turmoil of arranged marriages. The show was received well with the critics as never before had a show captivated the true essence of gender divide and Wasti's acting admired.

Acting as a career
Where her parents initially wanted her to be a doctor, they were supportive after her acting skills were adorned. Wasti recalls that her first experience in acting was for the passion of art, but later her parents told her to pursue the career in a professional manner. After her first stint, Wasti began receiving roles in various other plays in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabadcentres for PTV. In a short span of time, she was commended for being an extremely exceptional actress. She reminisces that people were sceptical when she stepped into acting, but once she proved herself they started accepting her
She considers Bano Qudsia's Kallo one of her most memorable plays where she had to ‘put on tonnes of make-up to look really dark’ to play a dark-skinned girl who falls in love with a fairer man. This role brought her instant success. In other equally applauded roles, she played a woman victim in Baadlon Par Basera who is forcefully led into marriage with a man in the United States of America on the phone and when she meets him for the first time, she realises the man is older than the picture she saw him in.
Maria is usually seen playing unglamorous roles involving sensitive issues regarding women in Pakistan. She has played roles depicting prominent women like Salma Murad and Lenin Peace Prize winner Bilquis Edhi
Maria is a very outspoken person her plus points are that is is straight forward and would always speak her mind out.

Recent ventures
Pakistani television had always been looked upon with pride and respect by its peers but of late, the quality of plays and serials has declined. Wasti is aware of the fact and usually says that newer plays should portray issues in today's Pakistan. She names 'drugs' and 'AIDS' being amongst the most sensitive.[2]
In view of these thoughts, Wasti opened up a production house in 2002, where she has successfully produced several serials and a dozen plays.[3] Her productions aim at the revival of television in Pakistan through better quality and content rivalling the glamour filled television plays from across the border in India

Noor Jehan (Urdu نور جہاں) was the adopted stage name for Allah Wasai (born September 21 1926 – December 23, 2000) who was a singer and actress in British India and Pakistan. She is renowned as one of the greatest singers of her time in South Asia and was given the honorific title of Mallika-e-Tarranum (Urdu: ملکہ ترنم, English the queen of melody).
Born in a family of musicians, Wasai was pushed by her parents to follow in their musical footsteps and become a singer but she was more interested in acting in films and graced the earliest Pakistani films with her performances. Where she holds an astounding record of 10,000 songs to her singing credits in various languages of Pakistan including Urdu, Punjabi and Sindhi languages,[1] she is also considered to be the first female Pakistani film director.
In 1957, Jehan was awarded the President's Award for her acting and singing capabilities.

Early life and background
Noor Jehan was born in Kasur, British India(now Pakistan) and was one of the eleven children of professional musicians Madad Ali and Fateh Bibi.
The family would often perform at theatres, although only Wasai's eldest sisters would go on to pursue a career in acting. Two of her sisters, Eidan and Haider Bandi, were successful actors at the rural Taka Theatre in Lahore
Career
Allah Wasai began to sing at the age of five or six years old and showed a keen interest in a range of styles, including traditional folk and popular theatre. Realising her potential for singing, her mother sent her to receive early training in classical singing under Ustad Bade Ghula AlKhan who was also a native of Kasur. He instructed her in the traditions of the Patiala Gharanaof Hindustani classical music and the classical forms of thumri dhrupad and khyal At the age of nine, Wasai drew the attention of Punjabi musician Ghulam Ahmed Chishti who would later introduce her to stage in Lahore. He composed some ghazals, naats and folk songs for her to perform, although she was more keen in breaking into acting or playback singing. Once her vocational training finished, Wasai pursued a career in singing alongside her sisters in Lahore and would usually take part in the live song and dance performances prior to screenings of films in film theatres
The family moved to Calcutta in hope of developing the movie careers of Wasai and her sisters. During their stay in Calcutta, the renowned singer Mukhtar Begum, encouraged Wasai and her two older sisters to join film companies and recommended them to various producers. She also recommended them to her husband, Agha Hashar Kashmiri who owned a maidan theatre (a tented theatre to accommodate large audiences). It was here that Wasai received the stage name Baby Noor Jehan. Her older sisters were offered jobs with one of the Seth Sukh Karnanicompanies, Indira Movietone and they went on to be known as the Punjab Mail. Wasai would later adopt Mukhtar Begum's way of performance and sari attire.
In 1935, K.D. Mehra directed Pind di Kudhi in which Jehan acted along with her sisters. She next acted in a film called Missar Ka Sitara (1936) by the same company and sang in it for music composer, Damodar Sharma.Baby Noor Jehan also played the child role of Heer in the film Heer-Sayyal (1937). After a few years in Calcutta Noor Jehan returned to Lahore in 1938. In 1939, Ghulam Hairder composed songs for Jehan which led to her early popularity. She then recorded her first song Shala Jawaniyan Mane for Dalsukh M. Pancholi's movie Gul Bakavli.
Prior to Khandaan Jehan was cast as a child artist. It was in 1942 that she played the main lead opposite Pran.Khandaan's success saw her shifting to Mumbai, where she shared melodies with Shanta Apte in Duhai (1943). It was in this film that Noor Jehan lent her voice for the second time, to another actress named Husn Bano In 1945 Jehan player the lead role, along side Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, in the movie Badi Maa.
In 1945, she achieved a milestone, when she sung a Qawwali with Zohrabai Ambalewali and Amirbai Karnataki which was "Aahen Na Bhareen Shikave Na Kiye". This was the first ever Qawwali recorded in female voices in subcontinent films.
Noor Jehan's last film in India was Mirza Sahibaan (1947) which starred Prithviraj Kapoor's brother Trilok Kapoor. Noor Jehan sang 127 songs in Indian films and the number of talking films she made from 1932 to 1947 was 69. The number of silents was 12. Fifty-five of her films were made in Mumbai, eight in Calcutta, five in Lahore and one in Rangoon Burma

Acting career in Pakistan
After Pakistan Independence in 1947, Jehan decided to move to Pakistan, her country of birth along with her husband Rizvi. She left Bombay and settled in Karachi with her family.
Three years after settling in Pakistan, Noor Jehan starred in her first film in Pakistan, Chanwey (1951), opposite Santosh Kumar, which was also her first Punjabi film as a heroine. Shaukat and Noor Jehan directed this film together making Noor Jehan Pakistan's first female director. Noor Jehan's second film in Pakistan was Dopatta (1952) which turned out to be an even bigger success than Chanwey (1951).
Her penultimate film as an actress/singer was Mirza Ghalib (1961).This contributed to the strengthening of her iconic stature. She gained another audience for herself. Her rendition of Faiz Ahmed Faiz's Mujshe pehli si mohabbat mere mehboob na maang is a unique example of tarranum, reciting poetry as a song. Noor Jehan last starred in Baaji in 1963, though not in a leading role. Noor Jehan bade farewell to acting in 1963 after a career of 33 years (1930 to 1963). The pressure of being a mother of six children and the demanding wife of a hero (Ejaz Durrani) forced her to give up her career. Noor Jehan made 14 films in Pakistan, ten in Urdu, four in Punjabi.

Jehan as a playback singer
After quiting acting she took up playback singing. She made her debut as a playback singer in 1960 with the film Salma. Her first initial playback for a Pakistani film was for Jan-e-Bahar (1958), in which she sung the song Kaisa Naseeb Layi Thi, picturised on Musarrat Nazir. She received many awards, including with the highest Pakistani honour in entertainment, Tamgha-eImtiaz (The Pride of Performance) in 1966, Pakistan's top civil award.
In the 1990s Jehan also sang for then débutante actresses Neeli and Reema. For this very reason, Sabiha Khanum affectionately called her Sadabahar (evergreen). Her popularity was further boosted with her patriotic songs during the 1965 war between Pakistan and India.
Jehan visited India in 1982 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Indian talkie where she met Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in New Delhi and was received by Dilip Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar in Mumbai

Last years and death
In 1986, on a tour of North America, Jehan suffered from chest pains and was dignosed with angina after which she went under a surgery to install a pacemaker. In 2000, Jehan was hospitalised in Karachi and suffered a heart attack. On Saturday afternoon, December 23, 200 Noor Jehan died from heart failure. Her funeral took place at Jamia Masjid Sultan, Karachi and she was buried at the Gizri Graveyard near the Saudi Consulate in Karachi.

Riya Sen (Bengali: রিয়া সেন; Hindi रिया सेन;IPA: [ria ʃenITRANS:riYA sen) (born Riya Dev Varma in Kolkata India on January 24, 1981) is an Indian film actress and model. Riya, who hails from a family of actors including her grandmother Suchitra Sen, mother Moon Moon Sen and sister Raima Sen, began her acting career in 1991 as a child artiste in the film Vishkanya. Her first commercial success in her film career was with Style, a 2001 Hindi low-budget sex comedy directed by N. Chandra. Some of her other films include producer Pritish Nandy's musical film, Jhankaar Beats (2001) in Hinglish director Davifilm Ananthabhadram(2005).
Riya was first recognised as a model when she performed in Falguni Pathak's music video Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi at the age of sixteen. Since then, she has appeared in musicvideostelevision commercials, fashion shows, and on magazine covers
Riya has worked as an activist and appeared in an AIDS awareness music video with the aim of dispelling popular myths about the disease. She also helped raise funds for pediatric eye-care. Riya has faced controversies such as a MMS clip with actor Ashmit Patl, her semi-nude photograph on photographer Dabboo Ratnani's annual calendar and her on-screen kisses in a conservative Indian film industry.

Acting career
Riya first appeared as a child artist in the film Vishkanya in 1991, where she played the role of the young Pooja At the age of 18, National Film Awards winning director Bharathiraja's Tamil film, Taj Mahal (2000), which did not achieve commercial success. She was scheduled to make her Bollywoodfilm debut in Love You Hamesha, opposite actor Akshaye Khanna;however, the film was stalled, and she ultimately made her debut in N. Chandras Style (2001).This low-budget sex comed was the first commercial success in over a decade for the director, whose previous successes included Ankush (1986) and Tezaab (1988) A launch pad for Riya, cast in the female lead along with fellow-newcomers, Sharman Joshi, Sahil Khan and Shilpi Mudgal, the film pioneered a trend of commercial success for small budget films in India.Riya and the second female lead of the film were replaced by aspirant actresses Sunali Joshi and Jaya Seal in Xcuse Me, the sequel of Style.
Her next success was Jhankaar Beats, a comedy revolving around the music of legendary composer R D Burman, which saw her playing a small and glamorous role alongside Shayan Munshi, Juhi Chawla Rahul Bose, Rinke Khanna and Sanjay Suri. Produced by Pritish Nandypublishing director of The Times of India, and directed by debutant director Sujoy Ghosh, the film was made on a budget of Rs. 25 million (US$525,000),marking the sixth in a row of small to medium budget films made by Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) Despite being part of a wave of offbeat films that mostly failed to make an impact at the box office, it surprisingly drew public attention upon its release, which led to a commercial success among a restricted audience targeted by a selective release in twenty cities. It was one of the first films made in Hinglish, a mixture of Hindi and English. In 2005, she starred in Shaadi No 1, which saw her sharing screen time with Esha Deol, Soha Ali Khan and Ayesha Takia, without anyone getting established as the female leadThis comedy, which is based on the theme of modern marriage, was directed by David Dhawan, a renowned film director from this genre
Although films like Style and Jhankar Beats succeeded commercially, most of her later films have generated less revenue.A number of them remained unfinished. While many of her appearances have been item numbers and cameos, few of her leading roles have been in low-budget films. Though she had small roles in Dil Vil Pyar Vyar (2002),(2003) and Plan (2004), attention was drawn to her item numbers in all three, especially the one in Qayamat that featured her in a bubble-bath. Besides this, she performed another item number in James (2005) on director-producer Ram Gopal Varma's behest, who has a history of casting aspirant actress-models like Sameera Reddy Isha Koppikar and Koena Mitrain similar roles. Furthermore, she took part in a dance number for Sajid Khan(2007) that featured several mainstream Bollywood actresses such as Amisha Patel Diya Mirza Neha Dhupia Amrita Rao and Celina Jaitley, among others.

Non-Hindi
filmsWith its commercia and critical success Ananthabhadram was a high watermark in Riya's career
Riya has, in addition to Bollywood films, appeared in Bengali, Tamil,Telugu, Malayalam and English films. Her film career began in the earnest with Tamil films such as Bharathi Raja's Taj Mahal, co-starring Manjoj Bharatiraja in the male lead, and Manoj Bhatnaghar's Good Luck, oppsite Prasanth. Both of the films failed commercially, and she had a brief reappearance in Tamil cinema only to perform in a dance number for N. Maharajan's Arasatchidead link
Her first English language movie was It Was Raining That Night, a remake of the Bengali film Hei Brishtir Raat, scripted by Sudeshna Roy and directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. In the film, she collaborated with mother Moon Moon Sen. Riya was slated to appear in Anjan Dutta's Bengali-English bilingual film The Bong Connection with her sister, but she was eventually dropped from the project and replaced by Peeya Rai Chaudhary The two sisters were later cast together in director Ajai Sinha's The Bachelor, a Bengali film that, as of 2008, is yet to be finished
Her most successful non-Hindi film has been director Santhosh Sivan's Ananthabhadram (2005). The first Malayalam venture for both Riya and Sivan, was both a critical and commercial success. It won five Kerala State Film Awards and surfaced as one of the biggest Malayalam successes that year. She played the role of Bhama in the film, a village girl who is lured by Digambaran, the evil magician portrayed by Manoj K Jayan. In a song-and-dance sequence showing Digambaran turning Bhama into a medium for demonic rituals, the choreographer Aparna Sindoor made abundant use Kathakali movements.
